Abby
Originally used as a water spaniel - The name Poodle derives from the German'puddeln' which means to splash in water.

The French, Italians and Russians have all claimed to have created the Poodle which can be traced back to the 16th Century. However, it is Germany who can be credited for developing this magnificent breed, the Pudel or water dog as they used to call it was originally used as a gundog, a water dog and even to pull milk carts. This incredibly intelligent dog has the most appealing nature and makes a fabulous pet if you can cope with the high maintenance coat which requires regular trips to the grooming parlour. Abby pictured here always stands beautifully for me to cut her in the traditional lamb clip which is essentually a clipped body with the legs and head sculpted by hand scissoring and blending into the body. The face and feet are clipped very short in the traditional Poodle style. There are many different Poodle clips that can be achieved however, the pet Poodle is usually kept in the lamb clip but it is perfectly acceptable not to clip the face and feet if you prefer.
