Ears
Your dogs ears should be free from odour. A small amount of light brown waxy secretion in the ear canals is normal, and some wax is necessary for the health of the ears. However the inside of the ear flaps should be cleaned whenever there is an accumulation of wax, dirt and debris. Dirty ear canals provide wax & cellular debris that shelter mites. Ear cleaning is standard work for the professional groomer and is included in your dogs groom. The ear is softly swabbed with cotton wool soaked with veterinary ear cleaning fluid ( Oti-Clens) to remove any dirt and excess wax. Care is taken when bathing the dog to ensure that no water enters the ears as wet ear canals can predispose a dog to ear infections. If ear mites are suspected Thornit ear powder is applied.
If the ear canal is filled with hair ear powder is applied and the hair is gently plucked.
