"This is my friend Sarah's page, she is a fabulous dog trainer and I highly recommend her services. Training is a very important part of your dogs development and must never be underestimated - a well trained dog is a happy dog" ....Debbi - Scruffy To Fluffy

I would recommend that the residential courses have a faster more positive
response due to the lack of distractions afforded by a dog being trained in
a home environment. Consistency with dogs is paramount and if you are trying
to cook the evening meal, talk to the children and the dog is moping around
and not in the bed where you have told her to stay, it is not surprising that
in those circumstances it is difficult to be consistent.
Importantly I insist that after training at whatever level and despite the
owners previous experience that the owner, newly trained dog and I have at
least one one to one session to clarify on commands, reactions and mannerisms
between the client and the dog. It is pointless sending a dog to me for training
and then just collecting it and expecting miracles, the client must understand
and approach the trained dog in the same manner as the trainer otherwise confusion
will ensue and disappointment for both owner and dog. Dogs like pleasing their
people, give them the opportunity and understanding and you will have a well-behaved
friend for life
The time and energy needed to instil a proper dog training programme, let
alone practise it is more than most people can spare, and when executed incorrectly,
it puts unnecessary wear and tear on your dog, not to mention can be very
frustrating for you. Training is the combination of positive reinforcement
and negative punishment - a dog is rewarded for desired behaviour and not
rewarded for undesired behaviour
Moreover owning a dog should be fun! Everything you do with your dog should
be fun! And the better trained your dog, the more fun you are going to have
with your dog, in addition, you’ll have a happier and more confident
dog.
